2nd February -- Grasmere, Lake District

The 'Cs' walked out of Grasmere and up to the 'Old Coffin' route to Rydal, where most of the group went for a coffee . Several of the more resilient members took the opportunity to view the river and falls at Rydal Hall. After the break , they continued over to Loughrigg Fell and the lake for lunch stop and the chance to observe some how some of the other visitors to the area take their 'pleasure'. They then followed the lake edge back to Grasmere, there enjoying the various refreshments in the local venues.

Roger's B walk did a clockwise circuit around the two lakes
starting along Greenhead Gill
followed by a stiff climb
with the occasional pause
up to
-- nearly there --
Allcock Tarn
Sue celebrates then down again
Fine view over Grasmere, then along the Coffin path and around Rydal Water to
Loughrigg
Terrace

The B plus walk went anticlockwise
along the west side of Grasmere
over the swollen Rother between the two lakes
along the Coffin path
then up Rydal Beck
past its many waterfalls
with a break for lunch.
A bit of wild climbing and along to
the main path up from Rydal to Nab Scar
break for heroic pose. . .
View over to Loughrigg and some more climbing
View from Heron Pike towards Fairfield On Heron Pike
Then a rough descent to Allcock Tarn and back down
via Greenhead Gill to Grasmere

Phil lead the A walk
out of Grasmere Gras towards Helm Crag
Snowy views
on the climb up
and dramatic views back from Helm Crag's "lion and lamb" rocks
Pushing on westwards
towards the
snowy wilds It's cold up there!
